Rosie Lee

She will not be ready for adoption
until her legs are fixed.  At this time, we are NOT accepting applications on Rosie Lee

Rosie Lee is fostered in Texas

Update 8/4

Rosie Lee is doing fine after her spay surgery. The BEST news is, the Drs. found that she does have kneecaps!!! Once she was under sedation for the spay, Dr Hardwick and Dr Miller were able to do a really good exam on her and finally found her kneecaps on the outer edge of her knee joint. They did not show up in the x-rays at all. Her leg bones are twisted and not normal, but Dr Miller said that since she has knee caps, he has the pieces to work with to hopefully help her walk much better.

Both Dr's watched her walk and thought she was raising her back end better, so she is building muscle already in preparation for her leg surgeries. Now she just has to finish growing a bit more. They will recheck her in early September.

Update 7/19

Rosie Lee has taken over the house. She is 100% puppy. Anything and everything are potential toys or playmates. She loves running in the yard and playing along the fence with the neighbor dog. She loves playing with her foster sister, Krissy.

Rosie Lee saw the Orthopedic Dr this week. He took x-rays of her legs and confirmed that he has never seen legs quite like hers. She doesn't seem to have knee caps at all. Her bones haven't quit growing yet, so all we can do now is wait at least until early September for a radiologist to study her x-rays and see if he has any extra input. She will be spay in a few weeks so she can recover from that before whatever may be ahead for her and her knees. She now weighs 4 pounds.

We will keep you posted on this exceptional little love bug.

Rosie Lee is a female yorkie puppy about 7 months old. She weighs about 3.5 pounds and was released from a Missouri puppy mill. She is a delightful busy little puppy, who plays with toys and can hop like a rabbit. She went to the Dr yesterday and it seems that both of her patellas (kneecaps) are out of place, luxating inward. Her lower leg bones, the tibia, seem to be rotated outward. She walks and runs in a hunched position, looking like she is looking for a place to potty.

She will see the orthopedic Dr in a week or so to see if he thinks he can help her. We are hopeful that he can. Until then, she will be busy growing up a bit, so she can be ready if the Dr says surgery will help. She will also need to be spay. Not all of her permanent teeth are even in yet, so she is really just a baby !!

Rosie Lee's adoption fee will be  $600.00

Gabe

Gabe is fostered in Texas

Well, we drove past this big house on all this land when we were on the way back from my parents' house. Two days later, we were driving back so that we could rescue some dogs. You see, hiding behind that big house is a puppy mill (mostly Yorkies). Jacki set her sights on this little 2 pound dog with huge eyes and now we have a new house guest.

We named him Gabriel (which means God is my hero) and I think he is living up to his name. He crashed (low blood sugar) in the truck before we got home. Within a few moments of walking in the door, he had discovered bed and blankets and was doing the Goldilocks thing trying them all out. He slept so hard and so much at first that we kept checking to make sure he was breathing. The very next day, we were begging my vet to fit him in even though they were booked solid and he spent the day and night at the vet's hooked up to an IV. Even though he was feeling pitiful, we could tell he had a big personality. John made him a t-shirt out of a sock because he was always cold.

He's had his shots, a dental (lost 5 teeth) and he's been neutered. He's still a bit under the weather, but he's on the mend and is definitely feeling better every day and has found his voice. He LOVES beds and soft blankets. Lexi is teaching him to bark for faster food service. He is trying to take over Tori's favorite thrones. He likes to snuggle with McKenna and he is generally making himself at home. As of a couple of days ago, he weighed 2 pounds 13 ounces, he is 7 years old. We hope to get his weight up to 3 pounds 10 ounces. His frame isn't big enough to carry any more. Hopefully, once we get a little weight on him and he's feeling better, he will build some muscle.

This little guy is going to have a personality (and attitude) that is as BIG as he is small. You can see it in his eyes. He is as sweet as can be, and you just can't help but love him. But, make no mistake about it, Gabriel is going to be a hand full in more than one way. He is curious and promises to be affectionate and a little bit demanding.

If you've got room in your heart and your home for a little boy who wants to be king of the castle, consider Gabriel. His brand new bag is packed and he is ready to travel. (By the way, he does best in the front seat where he can see out the window. He got car sick in the back, but rides really well in a car seat.) He is fine in a harness, but is still pretty much clueless about a leash. He's so small and wobbly right now, we tend to carry him unless he is just running around the house. We'll work on leash training and general manners. He strikes me as a quick learner.

For more information about Gabriel, you can email his foster mom at dana_bts@yahoo.com. Please note that Gabriel will not be placed in a home with small children or large dogs. He is not quick enough or steady enough to get out of the way.

Gabe's adoption fee is $225.00

Tess

Tess will not be adopted until she undergoes her heartworm treatment.

Tess is fostered in Texas

Tess is a very lucky little girl to have CRA take her under their wing, because this sweet little girl is heartworm positive. She is approx 5 years old weighs 6.9 pounds, she is a little underweight. She went to the vet today to get her shots and checked out. She has a terrible skin infection and her eyes are infected

She must have been breeder cause she has large tits and she has one large mammary tumor.

She is on an antibiotic, has drops for her eyes and a pet tonic because she is a little anemic.

But even with all of that, she is a very sweet girl and loves to give kisses. It will be probably a week or so before she starts her heartworm treatment, as we want to give her time to adjust and start feeling better.

She got 3, yes 3, baths tonight, she was so dirty the first two were just to get the dirt off and the 3rd one was with a special shampoo to help the infection. She has to have that one used on her twice a week. I know she had to feel better after seeing all that dirt come off.

Keep Tess in your prayers.
